Cannabis Sativa Botanical Print by Gustav Pabst

Rediscover the quiet beauty of scientific illustration with this Cannabis Sativa botanical print, drawn from Gustav Pabst's landmark edition of Kohler's Medicinal Plants. Every serrated leaf, slender stem and detailed seed head is rendered with the exacting botanical accuracy that made these nineteenth-century plates the gold standard of plant illustration, presented here in soft, timeless color against a clean ground. It is a study that turns a familiar plant into an object of genuine elegance.

Kohler's Medizinal-Pflanzen, published in Germany in the 1880s and edited by Gustav Pabst, remains one of the most respected botanical references ever produced. Its chromolithographic plates were prized for pairing scientific rigor with genuine artistry, documenting each species from leaf to root with clarity that served physicians, apothecaries and naturalists alike. Botanists still turn to these plates today for their accuracy and beauty. This Cannabis Sativa study is a superb example of that tradition, an antique medicinal-plant illustration that reads now as both a piece of natural-history heritage and a strikingly refined work of botanical art.

Our reproduction honors the original with archival craftsmanship. Each print is produced on museum-grade 189gsm archival matte paper using pigment inks, capturing the delicate linework, muted greens and fine botanical labeling with crisp, fade-resistant detail. The smooth matte surface is warm and glare-free, giving the piece the understated character of a page from an old scientific folio, right down to the subtle tones of the antique paper. This is a faithful fine-art reproduction, not an original antique lithograph.

Five sizes let you tailor it to your space: 8x12, 12x18, 16x24, 20x30 and 24x36 inches. Every order ships rolled in a protective tube and arrives ready to frame.
