Vintage Samsara Mandala No. 2
Buy this print on Etsy →A mesmerising piece of sacred art, this is a vintage Samsara mandala - a Tibetan Buddhist diagram of the cycle of existence, rendered in intricate concentric rings of jewel-like colour. Every circle, deity and symbol radiates outward from a still centre, drawing the eye inward in the same contemplative spiral that these images were designed to inspire. It is at once a dazzling work of pattern and a profound spiritual map.
In the Buddhist tradition the mandala is far more than decoration. The word means 'circle' in Sanskrit, and for centuries monks and master painters have created these precise, symmetrical cosmograms as aids to meditation - representations of the universe, of enlightened realms, and of the mind's own journey. The Wheel of Samsara in particular depicts the endless round of birth, death and rebirth, a reminder of impermanence and of the path that leads beyond it. To gaze at one is to be gently pulled toward stillness and focus.
What makes these images so captivating is the extraordinary discipline behind them: the perfect geometry, the layered symbolism, the vivid mineral pigments traditionally ground from stone. Even without knowing every meaning, the eye reads the harmony instantly, which is exactly why mandalas have become so beloved far beyond their original context.
As wall art it is deeply calming and endlessly interesting. The rich colours and hypnotic symmetry make it a natural for a meditation corner, yoga studio or reading nook, a bedroom, a therapy or wellness space, or a bohemian gallery wall. It is a thoughtful gift for anyone who meditates or practises yoga, lovers of sacred geometry and Tibetan art, and those drawn to spiritual, mindful decor, and it pairs beautifully with other mandala and Buddhist prints.
Because the original derives from the traditional, centuries-old iconography of Buddhist art, we are able to reproduce it at full museum quality.
Each print is a archival-matte reproduction on premium archival matte paper, faithfully capturing the intricate detail, jewel-like colour and meditative symmetry of the original - ready to frame and enjoy for years to come.
